Proposed Bylaw Updates for February In-Person Meeting

Surrey DPAC has circulated a package of proposed bylaw amendments to registered PAC Chairs and DPAC reps that will be brought forward as Special Resolutions at our upcoming in-person February 25th meeting to be held at the Surrey School District offices. This is the first document below.

These proposed updates focus on clarity, access, and alignment with current practice. They address meeting formats, quorum, voting, definitions, and terminology, including consistency with the British Columbia School Act. No changes are proposed to voting rights, quorum thresholds, or governance authority.

Timeline:

January 28th: Review proposed changes during the discussion block of our general meeting
January – February: PACs review at their local meetings
Feburary 25th: Members vote at our IN PERSON Surrey DPAC General Meeting

The redlined Constitution and Bylaws are posted as the second document below so that you can see the changes as they would appear in the full Constitution and Bylaws. PAC Chairs and DPAC Representatives are encouraged to read the materials in advance and review them with your PAC. Please reach out with any questions prior to the meeting. The proposed changes will also be reviewed and discussed at the January Surrey DPAC meeting following the District Secretary-Treasurer’s presentation on the district budgeting process.

We appreciate the time and care PACs bring to this work and look forward to continuing these conversations together in February.
